Short for Transaction Signature, TSIG is a computer
networking protocol used by the Domain Name System (DNS)
as a way to authenticate updates to a dynamic DNS
database. The RFC 2845 specification specifically states that the TSIG
protocol
allows for transaction level authentication using shared secrets and one way
hashing. It can be used to authenticate dynamic updates as coming from an
approved client, or to authenticate responses as coming from an approved
recursive name server.
